The Week Ahead

A week full of events is about to start. Tim and Nancy will be flying down to San An on Tuesday for Lukes surgery. Luke's thumb is finally getting fixed on wednesday, he had an appointment today to figure out whats going on, but of course i havent heard anything from him. Also this week is Greg Riewer's funeral, a very hard ceremony indeed that will be.
Lukes friends Ryan Puttbrese and Kuboy are still in Germany with various injuries and hopefully will be flying into the states some time soon. Keep thinking of them and of course the Riewer family. Take Care!

Rest In Peace

Another brave warrior from our area fell this weekend. Others were injured, but no word on who or what their injuries were. Please keep the family in your prayers and respect their privacy. A hard time for them and for all military families. Also keep his brother, in your prayers as he returns from Iraq to be with his family.
Again, we dont know any more details and I just ask that the press hopefully will be respectful.
God Bless.

Article in Wake of Walter Reed

John Davenport/Express-NewsArmy Specialist Lucas Schmitz, 22, looks at his prosthetic leg in the doorway of his room at at Brooke Army Medical Center. With a general, a colonel and other high ranking officers standing just feet away, Schmitz said he was being treated well and couldn't speak to the conditions at Walter Reed because he's never been there.

So this is what Lukes apartment looks like, some of it anyway, just the room portion. But no, not all soldiers receive poor care as a result of the military. Luke has been taken care of by the best doctors and in my mind, the ones who saved his life twice. Yes, it is unfortunate that soldiers are being treated poorly after their injuries and I cant imagine the frustration by them and their loved ones. But do note not all soldiers get the shaft.

Starting on Saturday, Luke and I are taking a much needed vacation for a whole week! We are heading down to Corpus Christi to enjoy a quiet, stress-free (hopefully) and relaxing get away after one heck of a year. Dont be jealeous! :)
