So maybe like myself, you are wondering what kind of infection Luke has in his body. Well, to your luck and curiosity I have the answer. Luke has what is called Acinetobacter. Here are some little facts about this bacteria
- common in the environment but are rarely a medical threat to healthy, uninjured persons
- can be acquired by person to person contact, contact with contaminated surfaces, or a result of wounds contaminated with dirt and debris
- some types are resistant to antibiotics and can be severe if the bloodstream becomes infected
- (a-sin-EE-toe-back-ter) found in water, soil and sewage. 25 different kinds
- symptoms are like pneumonia, wound infection- fever, redness, pain and pus
- As of mid-Nov. 2004 approximately 85 patients who served in Iraq have had the bloodstream infection

Hi Tina:
I am Nancy's cousin from Houston. I enjoy reading about Luke's daily progress. We are saying lots of prayers for you all. I am a retired nurse. Maybe you will decide to go back to nursing after this?
Yes, Texans are nice, and you will be craving Tex-mex food within a couple of months. Give Nancy a hug for me, too.
Love and prayers,
Judy Loosley and family

Great to hear that have a handle on the infection. Man it sure is nice that Luke has you at his bedside for support and to keep the rest of the world posted on his condition. Keep up the great work. We are still praying very hard for Luke and all of you that are going through this. Keep the chins up and God Bless You All. By the way have you gotten a box of Poptarts yet?
