so this thing they call exhaustion and irribility has set in. not only for luke, but for me as well. I think nancy is in the picture as well. the progress has been so good, with physical therapy starting today along with good movement and pain control. i've hit the emotional barrier having to watch my facial expressions and body language around luke. it will be great to have derrick down here for luke and us. a breath of fresh air and a familiar face.
as for the poptarts- i think we now have enough to last the rest of the hospital stay :)
the chaplain came by with a tackle box full of gummy worms, chocolate treats and other random treats along with field and stream magazine, sports illustrated and a puzzle and games book. as for things for luke, i'm really not sure what he would like. i really dont know how much of a magazine reader he is or the type of books he likes. before the deployment he liked war books and history, but im not so sure now. of course he likes star wars books and stuff, but its hard to figure out which ones he has read. the hospital does have computers and dvd players. the computers internet doesn allow too many pages, but he did read some of the caringbridge site and his emails. however those were so full of spam, he decided not to even try. .he cannot read this site at the moment, myspace and facebook as well. the base likes to keep all the good sites blocked hehe. i bought him V for Vendetta and brought my computer over so he could watch the movie. it was a little hard for him to hear, so the subtitles were used. i think its definately frustrating him not being able to hear.
nancy and i went to the PX today to get some random things, snacks, reading material and some different food than the cafeteria. the meal last night was amazing- getting filet mignon, potatoe, really great bread, salad and even dessert all for free- wow, this restuarant donates this to all of us every monday night. the food at the cafeteria is getting kinda old. there are some really good choices here, but eating healthy is hard. if nancy decides to move into the fisher house, there would be a kitchen there, but for right now, our kitchen consists of a fridge and microwave,ha nice. silly us, we craved kenny's candy today. being away from perham i guess has a toll on the little town folks. but i'm tired now, long day, and more ahead. i'm taking the morning off and just taking a breather, going for a walk and just staying away from the hospital for awhile. have a great day!
