Well I just woke up after my nap..I spent the night in Luke's room last night. There isnt much news today. The physical therapist came by today at 8am, but I decided to leave before that; you really dont get much sleep in a squeaky recliner with beeps going off and Luke talking in his sleep. :) The doctor came by at about 6am and removed his drain tube, so everything is really looking up. Sounds like maybe we can get him in a wheel chair soon to get out of his room.
Yes, the poptarts have arrived; all 96 of them! What a suprise to have ALL those arrive. Dont worry, any mail reaches Luke, his new room number is 455, if I havent written that yet.
So, I do have my camera down here to take some snapshots, however, silly me forgot my cord that extends from the camera to my USB. Oopsie. I'm not sure if Luke is ready for a pic, although his upper body is virtually unharmed. I plan on taking pictures of where we are staying, the hospital and such of the base. Well, maybe its time for me to actually get ready for the day and head back to the hospital for the excitement we call LUKE. Ha, nothing more exciting than watching a guy sleep, but still, we do it.
Oh, and yes, I always have thought about going back into nursing, but I'm already 3 years into college heading into my senior year so, for right now, its too late. But that doesnt mean I cant do it later. I think Physical Therapy is more my speed, so I hope I can get finished with the prereqs soon. I've even had the thought of doing my observations down here at BAMC, and I also need an internship for my exercise science degree; which can really be anything I want it to be. Before I had looked at interning at a Cardiac Rehab Center, and I'm sure there is one down here. Oh the possibilites!

tina, sounds like things are looking up! can't wait to hear if he can get in that wheelchair and start moving around the place....it would be great to see some pictures of the hospital.... or whatever... like you said....i also heard that there is a particular doctor that maybe you could get a picture of sometime?? i sent a package to mike kleinschmidt...i talked to his mom the other day to let her know about the news story that would be on tv about luke and she said that mike got the package...i'm always glad to hear that they get there....i am sending another tomorrow...do you know if there is anything in particular that he might want? otherwise i will just stick to the basics of jerky, seeds, candy and whatever else i can find...hang in there luke! love, carol

I told my mom about Luke's craving for spoon bread. It doesn't travel well, so she's promised him some when he comes home.
