New News

OK, so no one probably checks this anymore, but heck I'm keeping the posts for my history.
Luke has been having some problems with his HO bone growth when using his new leg. However, he found out today that it is not his socket that is the problem, he has developed fluid around his HO bone growth that will need treatment. SO this weekend, when I visit, will be a whole weekend with out walking. kind of a bummer, but no big deal. Right now he has a patch to try to reduce the fluid retention by medication on the skin. If this does not work, they have two options. Either pierce the fluid sac with a suringe (you think I could spell that by now), or have the bone growth removed all together, by a surgical procedure. Painfull I'm sure, and it will delay the homecoming even further. Bummer news, but we take it as we can :) Friday we will be going over to the VA clinic in TX to get Luke fitted for his own custom wheelchair..wahoo! AND I FINALLY GET TO GO TO SEAWORLD! YEA!
Good Day.

Hello, this is Sgt Gazelka sitting in Iraq (AKA Daniel, Eli, "Zeke") I didn't know Luke before this deployment, and I didn't get a chance to get to know him very well while he was here. I don't even know if he knows me, and it doesn't really matter. I just wanted you both to know that we talk about Luke all the time. After Puts and Kuboy got sent home, our fellow soldiers are talked about even more. You are both in a family, a family that never forgets and always remembers. Greg's memorial was one of the hardest things I've ever had to endure, and I can't imagine the grief of his family. I just saw Andy the other day...
I am praying for you both, and for Lukes full recovery from this fluid problem.
I'm glad you continue to post. Take care, and God bless.

Tina: I just wanted to let you know that I still check up on you and Luke...my daughter and Luke's cousin Julia are college roommates. I have had my co-workers praying for you all along. Just wanted to let you know. Ellen
